The Congress Support Scheme is designed to encourage UK visually impaired members of BCA to participate in mainstream congresses, and is primarily aimed at those who do not get regular opportunities to play in high-profile international events. Members eligible under the Congress Support Scheme may make claims of up to £150 per congress, and are allowed to spend up to £300 spread over a single financial year.
Please note that the scheme includes events overseas and some non BCA events that are specifically aimed at VI players.
A person who has not attended a mainstream congress for ten years or more is classified as a novice and, in order to assist with their attendance, can also claim up to £150 (appropriate to expenditure) for a sighted guide to accompany them.
If you would like to take up this offer, or if you have any questions or are unsure whether you qualify for the scheme, please contact Mark Kirkham email Mark Kirkham
