Chris Ross retains his British Champion title
The British Chess Championship for blind and partially sighted players was held in Morecambe from 13th to 20th August 2005. The winner was Chris Ross who thereby retained the title he won in the Championship two years ago. In joint second place were Steve Hilton and Steve Thacker.

A minor event for less experienced players was also held alongside the main Championship. The winner of this event was Brian Perham, with Geoff Patching and Orlando Sobers sharing secondplace.
Grading prizes were won by John Gallagher and Alastair Irving in the Championship and by Chrissie Brown and Dorothy Hodges in the minor. Chrissie Brown was declared Ladies Champion. The trophy for the most improved player was awarded to Alastair Irving. Tyson Mordue awarded a prize for the best performance to Steve Thacker.
