Last call for the BCA AGM Tournament. 12th to 14th March. Midland Hotel, Derby. £33 per person per night sharing or £36 per person per night single room. Entry £8. Bookings after 20th January will be subject to a £4 penalty. Visually handicapped players under the age of 21 who are UK residents receive free entry and pay £10 per night but are still subject to the £4 late booking penalty. Organiser Stan Lovell.

British Championship for the Blind. 4th to 11th September. Swallow Hotel, Grantham. The cost of this event will depend on the level of sponsorship we can obtain but the cost to members and associate members is likely to be between £175 and £190. The cost to non-members will be £200. Further information next issue.

BCA reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry and to exclude any person from any event it runs.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting will take place during the AGM Tournament weekend. At 2 p.m. on Saturday 13th March. Please note that any items for inclusion on the agenda must be in the hands of the Secretary by 20th January. If proposals from the committee are accepted the post of Public Relations Officer will go and whilst we will still have a Braille Librarian that will no longer be a committee post. In the place of these two posts there will be a Fund Raising Officer and a Publicity Officer. If any member or associate member feels that he or she might be interested in standing for one of these posts, contact the Secretary who will provide you with the terms of reference and an idea of what the job would entail. European Individual Championship

The European Individual is an event open to all visually handicapped players. It will take place in the town of Krynica about 100 miles from Cracow, Poland. Entry fee $50 (US dollars), accommodation $40 per person per day sharing or $60 per person per day in single room. Organisers transport players from Cracow to Krynica; players responsible for travel arrangements to Cracow. Time table: 3rd July day of arrival; 4th July opening; 5th to 9th July rounds 1 to 5; 10th July rest or tourism day; 11th to 14th July rounds 6 to 9; 15th July closing ceremonies; 16th July day of departure.

There may be limited financial help from the organisers which would be shared equally amongst any members entering the event. Contact Stan Lovell for further information.
