The tournament was held at the Marriott Hotel (formerly Swallow Hotel), Grantham, over the weekend of 16th - 18th March. Once again the hotel proved to be an excellent venue with first-class facilities, good food and very helpful and friendly hotel staff.

There were 21 players in the Open section and 8 in the Minor, each section being played as a five-round Swiss tournament. Illness prevented Graham Lilley from attending and members were unanimous in sending him sincere best wishes for a speedy recovery. There was a close finish in the Open section. Going into the final round on Sunday afternoon, Tyson Mordue on 4 - 4 was half a point ahead of Steve Burnell and Chris Ross. Tyson and Chris played each other in the final round while Steve was matched against Colin Chambers. In the end, both games were drawn and so Tyson clinched the

title. Shirley Watkins was the clear winner of the Minor section, finishing 1.5 points ahead of the field.

Our grateful thanks go once again to Gerry Walsh, Peter Gibbs and Julie Leonard for the splendid way in which they controlled proceedings. Thanks also go to Sheila Milsom who again ran a successful raffle. We are also very grateful to Stan and Jan Lovell for their tireless work in organising

yet another very enjoyable BCA event.
