IBCA Olympiad 2008

One of the highlights of the International Braille Chess Association’s calendar is the Olympiad, a team event that takes place every four years. Each country affiliated to the IBCA is entitled to send a team. There are four players in each team, but some countries also send a reserve player. The last Olympiad was held in Spain in 2004.

We have recently been informed that the next Olympiad will be held on the island of Crete, Greece, from 18th to 29th October 2008. The venue for the tournament is the 4 star hotel “Santa Marina” which is 3 km west of the city of Heraklion.

The panel responsible for team selection for this event is Colin Crouch, Chris Ross and Graham Lilley. They will be conferring very soon to establish availability of players and make their selection.
