All Under One Roof

In this feature I give details of chess events which occur mainly in hotels, thus avoiding the need to find the way to church halls, schools etc. Generally it is advisable to book for these events early as the amount of accommodation set aside for chess players may be limited. I have given an indication of the prices, but it is wise to check these when you make enquiries. If you can spare some time after you have attended one of these events, send a brief report of the event and the venue and its suitability for other visually impaired players to me or to Bill Armstrong. If you have visited other 'all under one roof' events or know of other such events, please let me know and I will include details in future features. You will find more information about events held in hotels in the article on Castle and Spectrum Chess by Gary Wickett.

Prices are: Single £550; sharing: a classic room £475, or a luxury room £520. All bookings and enquiries to the hotel.

Prices quoted: bed and breakfast sharing standard room £47.50 per person per night, seaview: £54, Single £58.50. Add £20 for dinner. Accommodation should be booked with the hotel. I can recommend this event to those who enjoy a friendly and relaxed event, but I must warn the chess room is upstairs which makes this event unsuitable for wheelchair users.
