BCA Members in Mainstream Tournaments

BCA members have been out in force supporting some of the Castle Chess events advertised in Guy’s ‘All Under One Roof’ article. The 4th Winchester Congress took place from the 8th to the 10th of January. Ian Blencowe competed in the Intermediate U140 and Voldi Gailans played in the Challengers U100. The 9th Portsmouth Congress was held from the 19th to the 21st of February. Once again Ian played in the Intermediate U140 and Voldi took part in the Challengers U100, but this time Voldi was joined by Dan Rugman and Gary Wickett.

Another band of BCA players participated in the Doncaster Chess Congress from the 26th to the 28th of February. They were Norman Andrews, Geoff Brown, Peter Cloudsdale, Michael Lowery and Norman Wragg.

Please don’t forget to let me know if you’ve played in a mainstream event and would like a mention here. (Also, visually impaired UK resident members should remember to claim a grant under the BCA Congress Support Scheme if eligible. Contact Mark Kirkham for details.) Don’t worry if you had a bad tournament; scores will only be published in the Gazette if you win a prize. I look forward to hearing from you!
