The Six Nations tournament took place in Gonfreville
L'Orcher, Normandy, over the Easter
weekend. Teams from Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland
and the Netherlands took part. Great Britain was represented by Steve
Hilton, Les Whittle, Mark Kirkham and Phil Gordon, with Norman Andrews and
Tristram Cole travelling as guides.
Germany finished first, with France second. GB did well
against the top teams, losing narrowly to Germany and drawing with
France. They also beat the Netherlands, who finished joint 3rd with
Belgium. Competition was fierce though and our team finished in joint
5th place, with Ireland. All BCA members in this event, including
those playing for Ireland, scored at least one point for their team.
Mark Kirkham deserves a special mention for achieving an impressive 4 out
of 5 (unbeaten) on board 3. Well done Mark!
