Brian Perham 1934-2010

sorry to say that Brian Perham died on Saturday 10th April 2010, following a long struggle against cancer.

I believe Brian was 76 on 3rd February this year. He was one of many who learned their chess at Worcester College in the reign of Reg Bonham. Brian went on to Oxford University where he studied law. He worked for much of his life as a senior lawyer in 'The Royal London' a leading insurance firm.

After very promising chess beginnings Brian gave up chess to concentrate on his career and his family. He started playing in B.C.A. events again some 25 years ago. Brian was involved in many organisations campaigning for better conditions for blind people and served on many committees. many will remember Brian for his great intellect and for his ever present sense of humour. Many times he has reduced a meeting of intense debaters to uncontrollable laughter.

Our condolences go to Vanessa and Alison, Brian's daughters.
