JUNIOR BCA
The Junior BCA
is a section within the overall structure of the BCA.
Membership
Membership of
Junior BCA is available to visually impaired UK residents under 25.
Associate membership of Junior BCA is available to sighted UK residents under
18.
Subscriptions
Membership of
Junior BCA is free.
Status
Members of
Junior BCA enjoy full membership status of the BCA. They are entitled to
all the benefits and subject to all the obligations of other members and
associate members of the BCA.
Representation
Provided that
Junior BCA has at least ten members it will be entitled to elect one of its
members to serve on the BCA committee. That member will enjoy equal
status with other committee members and will be responsible for bringing the
views of Junior BCA to the committee.
Benefits
Visually
impaired members of Junior BCA shall be entitled to free entry and free
accommodation when competing in BCA events. In appropriate
circumstances, a guardian or guide may also receive free accommodation when
accompanying a visually impaired member of Junior BCA. They may
also receive other benefits such as: the provision of chess equipment or
coaching, at the discretion of the committee.
When Membership of Junior BCA Expires
The BCA
financial year runs from 1 October to 30 September. Therefore, expiry dates of junior members will
fall on either 1 April or 1 October according to which date falls first upon
reaching the expiry age. We hope that
such members would wish to continue their membership, and if they would like to
do so, they can renew their membership by becoming annual subscribers or by
taking out 5 year or life membership.
